About Me

Scratchmark was born from a lifelong passion for craftsmanship and a desire to create beautiful, meaningful pieces for my community. After spending 20 years in the automotive industry, I decided to follow my true calling—working with my hands and sharing the skills I’ve honed over the past 40 years.

It all began in my parents' garage, crafting gifts for family members. I still remember making my first piece of furniture—a small side table built from scrap pine for my grandmother. Though simple, it was made with care, and she treasured it for the rest of her life. That experience ignited my love for woodworking, showing me the joy of turning raw materials into something both useful and cherished.

Every project starts with an idea, a unique piece of wood, or a request from someone looking to enhance their space. Bringing these visions to life is what drives me. In 2023, I began building deeper connections within the Asheville community, leading to more friendships and more opportunities to create.

Today, my work has expanded beyond furniture to include home installations, custom shelving, built-in bookshelves, and mantels. No matter the project, my goal remains the same—to craft pieces that bring warmth, creativity, and lasting beauty into people’s homes.

Let’s create something special together.

We work with locals to source all of the wood species, that go into our projects. It take a passion and many years of practice to produce quality utensils, and other house wares. In addition, we only do remodeling projects that are quality minded and have a touch of craftsmanship.

Custom projects mean each space is planned and agreed upon by both the owner and customer.
